John Rettenmeier

Sports Performance Manager - Plano 

Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning

Level 1 Sports Nutrition Coach 

John is the Sports Performance Manager at Sports Academy Plano. With over 10 years of experience, John has worked with athletes from ages four to 77 spanning youth to professional and Olympians across over 20 sporting disciplines from over 15 countries.

Before joining the Sports Academy team, John served as a High-Performance Specialist at Michael Johnson Performance where he evaluated and coached professional athletes in the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and Olympics. He was also the Project Manager for the Digital Sports Performance Coaching service where he supported national and international athletes, coaches, teams, and Olympic Federations from the United States, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Azerbaijan, and Nike-China Track and Field.

John received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Connecticut where he competed for the Track & Field program as a sprinter, and was also a member of the UConn Car Club.

​

Since university, he has obtained the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He also is a Level 1 Sport Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition.

​

John began his career in the Northeast where he worked with athletes from a variety of sports, including youth and adult groups. He has a strong desire to learn and use his expertise to develop effective training programs for athletes. His mission is to provide athletes with a unique set of skills that are optimized for their age, gender, and ability, so they can overcome obstacles and reach their full potential in both sports and life
